September 12-14 2008
FDTN Training Academy, Indianapolis IN
OPERATIONS LEVEL TRENCH RESCUE COURSE 3 DAYS
This is a three day course that will consist of a slide program on the problems that can and do occur in trench rescue incidents. The safety techniques, shoring techniques, proper procedures, team operations, hazard assessment will all be discussed and explained in depth. The students will then spend 2 full days of intense hands on training in the field of trench rescue. You will be taught several ways to shore trenches, the different types of extrication techniques, proper rescue site management, as well as the proper safety concepts needed to complete a safe and successful rescue. There will be two live exercises in which the students will actually extricate a trapped victim from a live open trench scenario using wood and pneumatic shores.

ADVANCED TECHNICIAN LEVEL TRENCH RESCUE COURSE 24 HOURS
This is a three day course that will consist of a lecture on the hazards encountered in deep trenches, over 8' deep, and intersecting trenches. There will also be intense hands on training in the field of advanced trench rescue. The students will be taught several ways to shore deep trenches, "L" and "T" trenches, and the different types of extrication techniques, proper rescue site management, as well as the proper safety concepts needed to complete a safe and successful rescue. There will be two live exercises in which the students will actually extricate a trapped victim from an open trench scenario.

Collapse Rescue Shoring Courses

October 3-5 2008
FDTN Training Academy, Indianapolis IN
OPERATIONS LEVEL RESCUE SHORING 24 HOURS
This is a three day class designed to thoroughly familiarize the student with the proper interior & exterior shoring techniques needed to safely construct all the types of shores generally needed to conduct safe rescue operations. The first day will concentrate on Exterior shores and the second day will cover interior shoring. This is an intensive hands-on course and the students will be tested on the proper erection of the various shores. There will be an AM lecture and then hands on training for the duration of the course. The third day will have a full shoring exercise. This course is completely updated and surpasses the FEMA Structural Collapse Technician course.

October 17-19 2008

ADVANCED RESCUE SHORING 24 HOURS
This course will cover the advanced shoring techniques that are necessary for your firefighters to know and understand for use at the heavy operational level. The heavier sized lumber and the more complicated shores will be erected and demonstrated. Double & triple raker shores, larger horizontal and vertical shores, 16 ft. high laced posts, double and triple slope floor shores and flying shores will also be erected. Multi story shoring scenarios, large opening header fabrication, raker splicing, larger post fabrication will all be covered as well.

This course is the culmination of all the previous training plus the addition of several new shores not previously shown and additional lecture class supporting the necessary concepts on those shores. This class will also have extensive hands-on erection of the new shores as well as several stations on the different variations of shoring systems that we can anticipate will occur. The shoring of racked openings and sloped floors will be part of the training as well. The course will culminate in a full day shoring exercise; your team must be in good physical condition to take this class. There will be hands on training every day. This is the most comprehensive shoring course there is.
