Collapse - Brooklyn, NY. A 4th alarm gas explosion. A propane cylinder exploded in the basement of a plumbing supply store, killing several people and injuring numerous. Two people were trapped and rescued in the adjoining building.

A workman in the middle of the day, installing a cell phone antenna on top of a water tower in Manhattan, falls and is severely injured. Members of Rescue 3 lower the victim down to a waiting ambulance, with a tender. |

The injured workman being initially lowered to the ground almost 16 stories high. John O'Connell is lowered over the side with the victim, to clear the basket from any guide wires. |
